Artist Statement
Elizabeth Hancock is an oil and acrylic painter based in Los Gatos, California. Her work explores experiential states of being and the unseen dimensions of human experience.
Through color, light, symbolism, and atmosphere, Elizabeth creates quiet, contemplative encounters where the familiar opens onto the mystical and the boundaries between the physical and spiritual realms begin to dissolve.
Her paintings invite moments of stillness, reflection, and transcendence, offering viewers a space to connect with wonder, possibility, and something beyond the everyday.
Creative Exploration
My inspiration emerges from nature, imagination, intuition, and meditation. I often get a vision which reveals an emotion and an overall atmosphere develops on its own. I call these my "downloads".
I also love to paint intuitively and not "know" what will emerge. Both methods are used and I often incorporate both together to create a rich visual scene of feelings and emotions.
I enjoy using innovative AI technology like Midjourney to further develop and explore my intuitive ideas while also discovering new possibilities of perception, imagination, and artistic expression.
